Spring Series - Clonliffe Sunday April 10th

After a great day out on the beach in Skerries yesterday the second and final round this year, of the Juvenile Spring Series takes place in the Morton Stadium Santry this Sunday April 10th.

The first race will get underway at 11 o’clock sharp. Therefore, the athletes from the competing clubs are requested to be in the stadium by 10.30 at the latest so that they can be well warmed up in time for the first race.

The programme of events is as follows:

U/8 Girls and Boys 200m

U/10 Girls and Boys 400m

U/12 Girls and Boys 600m

U/14 Girls and Boys 800m

U/16 Girls and Boys 1000m

U/18 Girls and Boys 1000m (if required)

(Separate races for boys and girls)

Please note the following:

Car parking is available in the stadium at both the Clonliffe and main car-park sections.

All athletes wearing spikes please note that the maximum spike permitted on the track is 5mm.

Please note that the indoor section of the stadium is strictly out of bounds.

Coaches are asked to advise their athletes to be careful warming up just in case there are still senior athletes training prior to the races.

Please also note that the in field is strictly out of bounds as there may be some field eventers still training.

Finally we look forward to welcoming you to the Morton Stadium the home of Clonliffe Harriers for what will be a relaxed and fun morning – with an 11 o’clock start the aim is to be finished by 12 noon and we hope that all will stay and enjoy a cup of tea and some refreshments post event.

Spring Series - Skerries Sunday 3 April

Juvenile Spring Series: Skerries Beach

The Juvenile Spring Series, which is organised between Clonliffe and our friends in Skerries and Lusk this year is over two round.

Round 1 is the famous Skerries Beach race on Sunday April 3rd with Round 2 on the track in Morton Stadium.

Juvenile athletes will take part from Skerries AC, Lusk AC, Portmarnock AC, Celtic/DCH, LSA and Clonliffe over the loop on the hard sand left by the retreating tide, with of course the old salt water pool to negotiate. First race will be at 12.30 sharp, the event should be completed within 90 minutes, and will be good fun.

Portmarnock athletes should be there by 11.45am. Please wear Club vests/t shirts. Bring plenty of warm dry clothes.

Mid Sutton AC’s Goal Mile Event

Mid Sutton Athletics Club are organising a Goal Mile Event on Saturday 19th December, from 10am to 12pm midday in Suttonians Rugby Club. Fun runs/walks, 1 mile long, will start every 20 minutes from 10am. The club would like to invite all Binn Eadair GAA members and all Suttonians (and their families too!!!!) to participate in running/walking any one or all of the six 1 mile runs.  Once finished, all runners receive a certificate with their time for the mile on it, and a special badge to mark the occasion. All one has to do is make a small donation on the day and put their toe to the line. Remember giving a little will go a long mile.

Leinster Development Squads 2015/16

Day 1 of the Leinster Development Squads will take place on November 28th in Morton Stadium, Santry.

The Development Squad takes place from 11am – 1pm on each day and is open to all athletes aged 12 years +. The squad will cost €5 per athlete each day. Please check in at the stand in Morton Stadium from 10.30am. Dates for the Development and events covered are listed below:

December 12th 2015; 11am-1pm - Hurdles, Middle Distance, Jav & High Jump

Throws Masterclass

Athletics Ireland present a two-day masterclass with world renowned coach Vesteinn Hafsteinsson on discus, rotational shot put and development of the thrower on December 12-13 at DCU and Morton Stadium in Dublin.

This is a special opportunity for the Irish Athletics Community to learn from one of the world’s foremost authorities on throwing.

Listen to how Coach Hafsteinsson has been instrumental to the Olympic Gold medal of Gerd Kanter and numerous other world class discus throwers and shot putters.

Watch him coach some of Ireland’s best throwers and take these lessons back to develop Ireland’s next generation of champions.

These races will be held in Tymon Park, in the north corner of the park between Greenhills Road and Lugnaquilla Avenue. 

The closest car park is on Limekiln Road. There is more parking outside St Peters national school further down Limekiln Road, and in a second Tymon Park car park off Castletymon Road. These secondary car parks are 10/15 minutes walk from the race location.

Juvenile Cross-Country League 2

The next Cross Country league race is  this Sunday 4th October 2015 in the Phoenix Park.  The schedule and course map are available below, parking available at the Papel cross.  Please arrive at least 45 mins before your race.  Club singlets or club t-shirts must be worn. Lorraine will  be somewhere near the finish line with numbers.  

The Even Age Dublin  Championship is on the 18th October 2015 in the Phoenix Park.  It’s an online application system so you need to advise me if an athlete is running no later than Wednesday 7th October 2015.  No late entries accepted.  Uneven Age Dublin Championships is on the   October in Tymon Park, we will look for applicants closer to the time.
